Hyakunin Isshu Word Frequency Map

• I have visualized the "words" that appear throughout the Hyakunin Isshu.
• All 100 poems were processed using morphological analysis — a technique that breaks text into its smallest meaningful units and identifies their part of speech and meaning — and the results are presented here as a "Word Frequency Map."
• Words that appear more frequently are shown larger, and clicking a word displays a list of all poems containing it.
• Discover through statistics and visuals what words the poets entrusted their feelings to.

The morphological analysis on this page was performed using MeCab as the analysis engine and the Middle Classical Japanese UniDic dictionary from the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics.
